Habari Gani?! NIA!

KwanzaaNiaHabari Gani?! (What’s the news?)

NIA (Purpose)
– To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.

The word that always comes up when we talk about purpose in being “intentional.” Unless we intentionally set our hearts and minds toward building with future generations in mind and considering how our actions will affect our descendants, then we are not building with purpose. Without intention, very few things of substance are accomplished.

Honored ancestors: We spent the evening celebrating NIA with others at a Kwanzaa celebration in Chicago. We had an opportunity to honor African ancestors, national ancestors, family ancestors and those who are yet to be born that will one day call us their ancestors.
